Heligan

Information about the fabulous Lost Gardens of Heligan, close to Mevagissey and well worth a visit.

200 acres of garden history, mystery and romance

Twenty-five years ago, Heligan’s historic gardens were unknown and unseen; lost under a tangle of weeds. It was only the chance discovery of a door in the ruins that led to the restoration of this once great estate. Today, The Lost Gardens have been put back where they belong: in pride of place among the finest gardens in Cornwall.

It's a fabulous day out from Mevagissey.

The footpath to Heligan runs from just beyond the main car park (on road to St Austell, opp. Vicarage Hill) and is approximately 1.5 miles from where it joins the road (2 mins from village centre).

The path to Heligan is uphill through woods and farmland and takes approx. 50 minutes. Path can be muddy. In wet weather we recommend that you follow the cycle track all the way.  It's a bit longer - but drier!
